Jack Reacher likes to head south for the winter, to stay warm: so just before Christmas he arrives in a small town in Southern California.     Come on Mr Child. Are you really that hard up that you feel the need to charge 99p for what is no more than a 6th form essay. The plot starts ok and I thought OK, it’s only a little over 80 pages, be a nice distraction for an hour or so, but it soon descends into an eye rolling “Really?” as the (and I hesitate to use the word), drama unfolds. And to add insult to injury the thing is only 30-odd pages long, with the rest comprising more than 60% of your purchase being an extract from the coming Reacher novel due in November. Leaves a very bitter taste and a Tom Cruise-sized sense of disappointment.
